mental illness: Various conditions that are characterized by impairment of an individual’s normal cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning, and caused by social psychological, biochemical, genetic, or other factors.

newborn screening: The process of testing newborn babies for treatable genetic, endocrinologic, metabolic, and hematologic diseases.

nutrigenetics: Research into the way that a person’s diet, genes, and lifestyle interact, or using information from a person’s genetic make-up to provide someone with personalized diet and lifestyle advice.
 
obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD): A type of anxiety disorder characterized by prolonged, excessive worry about circumstances in one’s life.
